I’ve found a great service that will take images with text and convert it to readable text and in the case of the internet, searchable text. I’m in the process of adding this to the images throughout the gallery. Hopefully this will help those doing research on WWI.
Here’s an example of what I’m currently working on. Make sure you scroll down below the large image: THE INDIAN, May 13, 1919, Page One.
The service I found is: ONLINE OCR.
A new issue of The Indian has been posted: May 13, 1919.

Added images of my Grandfather’s veteran’s hat.
Have added some new images to Documents and Artifacts and also two new pages: USS Imperator Booklet and The Indian, a publication by “The Second Division Association.” I have seven more of the latter which I’ll hopefully get posted this year (2012). Enjoy!
The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri was awesome. We visited in the summer of 2010. See photos from our trip on the new photographs page here.
My Grandfather’s gas mask instructions have been added to the document’s page. This includes four new images. Check it out here.
Added two new letters today. Look for the red “New” next to letter links. Enjoy!

This should make the site far more user-friendly. Hope you enjoy!
