Robert E. Schalles

The photographs my grandfather kept of his World War I experience were mostly, I assume, of his friends. None of the personal photographs are labelled in anyway. Only a few of them are of him. There is one photograph, in particular, that is a bit of a mystery. It’s a picture of some German officers. We don’t know who the officers are or how he obtained the picture. It does not appear to be something that was mass-produced. I wonder if during or after a battle he may have taken it from a house or building that had been occupied by German officers. Any information about the men pictured in that and any of the other photographs would be appreciated.

Only thumbnails are presented on this page. You may view a larger image and comments(about some photos) by clicking on the photograph.
